You must be a member of the Cedar Rapids Skyhawks and a member of the AMA to fly at this field.
Guest flying is permitted only with permission of a Skyhawks Officer or Instructor as listed in the club Logbook.
Use of this facility is limited to flying of model aircraft. The flying of radio control model aircraft has priority, and other types of model aircraft shall not interfere with these activities. Rockets are prohibited.
Only receivers that meet AMA guidelines can be used at this site. If you do not know if your receiver meets this requirement, you must verify with the manufacturer that it meets the AMA guidelines.
Flying times start at 8:00 AM and end at sunset.
Spectators MUST stay west of the spectator fence while aircraft are in the pit or in operation.
NEVER test engines in the pits or on the flight line. Never run engines in the pit area.
When flying on 72MHz pilots will acquire the appropriate pin from the pin box. Pilots are responsible to make sure there are no frequency conflicts.
When flying, pilots will display their Skyhawks membership badge for the current year.
Do not fly over agricultural ground adjacent to the flying site while it is being prepared, planted or harvested.
You are responsible for damage done to crops by your downed aircraft or damage caused while retrieving your downed aircraft.
All flying must be done east of the line formed by the west edge of runway.
No flying is permitted more than 1000 feet to the north or to the south of the runway.
Low pass activity must be announced and made on or east of the runway centerline.
Aircraft must be started past the North or South end of the pilot safety fence and west of the pilot fence line. In no case should a plane be started behind pilots that are flying. Planes may also be started at the center gap of the pilot safety fence. The center stand can also be used to start aircraft, but not while a pilot is located directly in front of the stand. Electric aircraft motors shall not be run in the pit area.
Engines may be test ran at the far north or south end of the pit area west of the pilot safety fence line.
Do not taxi aircraft in the pit area (west of the pilot safety fence line).
Pilots will stand behind the pilot safety fence while flying. No more than six aircraft will fly at one time unless authorized by a CD at a Flying event.
Mufflers are required on all engines larger than .074 cubic inches.
When more than one aircraft is in the air, all aircraft must fly in a rectangular pattern in the same direction.
All hovering maneuvers, whether helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft, must be conducted east of the runway and its extensions. There shall be NO hovering over the runway when aircraft are in the pattern with the exception of takeoff and landing. If there are no other pilots in any pilot stations, then hovering or 3D maneuvers are permitted over the runway.
Helicopter pilots must operate their aircraft in a manner consistent with all of the rules above.
There is a special designated pit and hovering area for model helicopters. (North side of far north end of spectator fence).
Helicopters may enter the pattern of fixed wing model aircraft provided they refrain from hovering or using excessively slow speed in the pattern.
When other pilots are waiting to fly, limit your flying time to twenty minutes per flight including engine start and adjustments.
Position your airplane so that the prop wash does not blow on other people or equipment.
Announce take-offs and landings.
Announce engine starting and arming of electric aircraft.
Announce emergencies such as Dead Stick or loss of control.
Announce (and get permission) to go onto the runway while aircraft are flying. Announce when you are clear.
