July 20, 2014
The Field is now fully open. Thanks to all the members who volunteered and city crews for cleaning up the storm damage.
The 2014 flying season is well under way. We had a great demo day even with the bad weather. We have a lot of new members and a lot of new planes out at the field. Here are some photos so far from 2014 season.
Honor Flight presented the club with an appreciation plaque for all the club has done for Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. The club has raised funds at Warbirds Over Iowa for several years to benefit this organization. In addition, many veterans attend Warbirds Over Iowa each year. Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. Click here for link to Honor Fight
Skyhawks donate a “Fly Em” Sopwith C.L. model to the AMA Museum. Thanks to Geoff Barrance for coordinating this effort for the club.
Warbirds Over Iowa
Warbirds Over Iowa is annual event held at the SkyHawks field ever year in July. Model Aircraft from multiple nations and eras will be flown including WWI Fighters, WWII Fighters and Bombers, and even modern jets powered by actual turbine engines. The event draws pilots in surrounding states and is also a fund raiser for Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. The event is located at the SkyHawks club field north of town near county home road. Aircraft fly throughout the day 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Spectators of all ages are welcome and admission is free. A special area will be reserved to honor our veterans and give them a great view of the action. Make plans to attend.

SkyHawks Demo Day
The SkyHawks Demo Day is an annual event held at the SkyHawks RC Field in June. Demo day is held for people interested in learning more about RC Model Airplanes and seeing what the hobby is all about. All types of aircraft will be demoed during the day including Trainers, Sport Planes, Bi-Planes, Warbirds, Jet Aircraft and helicopters. These aircraft will be powered by glow fuel two and four stroke engines, gasoline engines, electric motors and even jet engine turbines. This is a great opportunity to ask question of the pilots and learn how to get started in the hobby. We even give the youngsters an opportunity to fly on a buddy box. Make plans to attend.
